The Yamaha XT 225 is powered by a 223cc SOHC, air cooled, single cylinder engine. This motor is mated to a 6 speed transmission and wet multi-disk clutch. This is a great beginner bike that is not intimidating and smooth to ride.

Drivetrain
- Stock gearing uses a 15 tooth sprocket
- Use a 13 tooth sprocket for REALLY low off-road gearing
- Use a 14 tooth sprocket for off-road performance
- A 16 tooth sprocket will give you lower RPM at highway or street speeds
Stock gearing uses a 45 tooth rear sprocket
The 50 tooth rear sprocket will give you much lower gearing for off-road use. You will need a longer chain for this rear sprocket, please order the 130 link chain to fit with this larger sprocket, it may need to be shortened to fit correctly.

Here is a tool to help you remove a few links from a chain that is too long. A great tool to have in your tool box.
The head of the pivot pin you are going to remove must be ground down level with the side plate before using this tool to push it out. Failure to do that will cause damage to the tool that is not covered by any warranty!
