Motion Foot Pegs

Motion foot pegs

We wanted to share something cool we just got in the shop that we're pretty excited about: Motion foot pegs made right here in Oregon!

The main difference between these pegs and the Pivot Pegz you might be familiar with is the rubber bushing system. These bushings control how much the pegs flex under your feet and also help dampen those annoying vibrations. They come standard with medium hardness bushings, but you can swap them out for softer or firmer ones depending on how you like your ride to feel.

Featured Rider: Tom Bonamici

Tom Bonamici

This month, we're riding along with Tom Bonamici, who owns two very distinct motorcycles: a 1973 BMW R60/5 with a family history and a 2006 Honda XR650L that represents a return to his motorcycling roots.

The BMW comes with a special story -- Tom's uncle put an impressive 91,000 miles on it before hanging up his helmet and selling it to Tom for just a dollar. Tom acknowledges he still has 88,000 miles to go before catching up to his uncle's legacy. This passing of the torch represents the kind of two-wheel heritage that many riders dream about.

Tech Talk: Southern Comfort

Carl and Austin demonstrate proper riding position

In this tech talk, Carl explains how to set up your bike to reduce fatigue on longer rides.

When fatigue sets in, mistakes happen more frequently, making your ride less enjoyable and potentially unsafe.

A good place to start is by upgrade your handlebars to aluminum alloy. Aluminum handlebars are better at absorbing vibration, even without bar-end weights. These bars are thicker in the middle than standard steel bars, but taper down at the tips to fit standard levers and switchgear.

Bill has an impressive collection of bikes, including a 2015 KLR650, a 2021 KLX300, and a 1977 Yamaha XT500. He also owns several Triumph Cubs and twins, BSA singles, and Ariel singles, including a '58 HT5, '55 HS, and '47 Red Hunter.

Tech Talk: April Maintenance Tips

Carl discusses April maintenance tips

In this month's tech talk, Carl discusses some often overlooked tips that can enhance your motorcycle riding experience, not only for April, but throughout the season.

First up are horns. In the past, we could regenerate a horn when it started to sound weak, but the chemical used for this process has been outlawed in most states. Therefore, the best solution now is to upgrade to a better quality horn. A loud, clear horn is essential for safety, allowing you to alert others to get out of your way.

Tech Talk: Jets Jets Jets!

In this month's tech talk, Carl dives into the fundamentals of carburetor jetting.

First, it's crucial to ensure that your motorcycle is fully warmed up before making any jetting adjustments. The richness of the air-fuel mixture changes with temperature, so you should only evaluate jetting when the bike is at operating temperature.
