This month, we’re featuring Jeff Elliott from Texas who rides a 2020 Suzuki DR650 which he affectionately calls his “Desert Donkey.”
Jeff has been a long-time ProCycle customer and has made extensive modifications to his DR. When we asked what modifications he’s made, his response was “all of them.”
Jeff upgraded his engine with the ProCycle 790cc big bore kit, Performance Web Cam’s #190 profile camshaft, ProCycle’s big valve head, and a Mikuni TM42 carburetor. He added a ProCycle stainless steel Pro-Flow headpipe and FMF exhaust to complete the setup.
The front-end look of the DR was changed completely with the Yenkro Rally Fairing, bringing the face of the bike into the 21st century. Jeff also added a 5.3 gallon Acerbis tank, Sargent seat, and PMR luggage racks.
Underneath, Jeff upgraded his suspension front and rear with a Cogent Mojave Pro-Series shock and Cogent DDC fork solution kit. He also upgraded his brakes with the Warp 9 Racing front brake kit.
Lastly, the DR sports Warp 9 bar risers, Warp 9 levers, and ProCycle’s lowered foot-peg kit.
Jeff recently took his rig to Big Bend for 3 solid days of riding in and around Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Terlingua Ranch, Pinto Canyon, and Marfa. The DR operated flawlessly and never skipped a beat!
At the time of his submission, Jeff was planning to ride to the Gila National Forest in New Mexico and do part of the NMBDR.
Thank you, Jeff for showing us your immaculate Desert Donkey and sharing your adventures with us!
