Absolutely worth the money. Good luck getting the spongy “adjustable” stock one out - I found a good tutorial on Thumper Talk. The original shock seems ok with the external chamber and adjustment clickers, but it was an undersprung can of slush. This Cogent one is miles better - minus the external chamber, which makes getting it in there much easier. Comes with a nice metal hockey stick bar for the preload collar. Completely transformed the bike. It feels propped up properly and contact with the ground is noticeably improved. Handling is hugely improved. No more of that saggy wallowing stuff in turns with the front getting all weird. It’s over 10% of the sticker price of a new XR650L but totally worth it. Totally.
