This past April, one of our faithful XR650L customers made a solo adventure riding from Elko, Nevada all the way to Lake Havasu, Arizona. Paul's 750-mile journey consisted of 600+ miles of dirt tracks and took him 4 days to complete.
The route took him above 7,000 ft as he navigated around four 8,000+ foot peaks. (The photo below taken at 8,200 ft features Currant Mountain in Nevada prominently in the background). During his journey, Paul was surprised by some patches of snow, but he was lucky to have only had to duck-paddle his way through one 50-foot section of about 10 inches of snow.
This was Paul's first multi-day trip on a motorcycle. His bike is a 1994 Honda XR650L that -- besides suspension, large tank, and comfy seat -- is mostly stock. We enjoyed his story so much that we featured it in our 2023 desktop calendar for August. We also wanted to share it with you here in our newsletter. You can find his original write up on this trip here.
