As riding season is upon us, many of us are getting ready by prepping our bikes. Among all of the basic items to attend to – new oil, fresh gas, and other details – we want to highlight four services that get overlooked.
Switching to Summer Air
The easiest things to correct are often the most overlooked. Switching to summer air in your tires provides you with quicker warm-up and improve tire life. Plus, it’s easy to do! Just let out the old winter air and pump in new summer air. Always check and monitor your tire pressure with a quality digital tire gauge.
Spark Plug Filter
If summer adventure rides take you to the back roads, you may encounter fuel that is less than ideal. By installing an inline spark plug filter, you can ensure that you are getting the cleanest spark possible in all conditions. A good filter will last for many years of riding.
Power Bands
Upgrading your current power band can add amazing throttle response to your motorcycle. Most power band upgrades are included with jet kits or exhaust systems. Remember to always use a power band designed for your specific model motorcycle as mixing power bands can hurt performance drastically.
Blinker Fluid
Are your turn signals not as strong as new? Chances are your current blinker fluid is low or has degraded over time. While you're replacing the fluid, be sure to check out the new synthetic type that works with all OEM motorcycle turn signals (no more special formulas needed for BMWs). We have found that the best way to add blinker fluid is to soak the signals overnight as this ensures a complete refill. Another alternative is to get new LED turn signals, which have a sealed system and will never need a blinker fluid refill.
