Tech Talk: Simple Safety Things

We all know that riding a motorcycle can be risky. However, there are many things we can do to make our riding safer.

Being fatigued can cause us to become less aware of our surroundings and cause us to make mistakes in controlling our motorcycles. So first, don’t over-ride. If you’re feeling tired, take a break and stop riding for a while to recharge. Sometimes, you may not even know that you’re tired. If you have been riding for a long period of time, take some time to stop, relax, and get some refreshments.

We can also find ways to reduce how quickly we fatigue. One of the simplest bike upgrades we can do are better handlebars. Switching to aluminum over-sized bars can create a more comfortable riding position for your arms and hands. The aluminum bars also absorb vibrations better. A good set of handguards will shield you from cold winds and rain, as well as protect your hands from impacts with unforeseen objects.

Another good step in reducing fatigue is a better quality seat. Many stock seats become painful after a short ride because the foam is too soft and compresses too much under the rider’s weight. Upgraded seats have higher-quality, firmer foam that doesn’t completely compress while riding, offering better cushioning and resulting in less fatigue.

Lastly, being more visible to others on the road can make a huge difference. We like having bright LED tail lights, LED license plate frames with a stop light feature, and brighter and clearer LED headlight bulbs for improving our safety.
