Project TW200 Stage 2 Review

It’s been about a year since we started work on our Project Yamaha TW200, and the transformation has been huge! Tom and Mike put together a video to showcase all that we’ve done to improve the bike.

Starting from the bottom up, we replaced the stock wheels with a 17x3.5” rear and a 19x2.75” front, giving us a lot more tire options. We were finally able to get a knobby set of tires on the TW, and the upgraded wheels and tires provide a much more direct road feel.

We upgraded the brakes with the Warp 9 big rotor kit, featuring a 280mm front rotor, and a Galfer steel-braided brake line. These two upgrades combined dramatically improved braking performance and brake feel on our little Yamaha.

We upgraded the front suspension with 0.60kg/mm fork springs and Cogent DDC cartridges. These upgrades significantly improved the weight transfer characteristics of the bike and made the front end feel much more planted. We similarly upgraded the rear suspension with the JNS 3” swing arm extension and Cogent rear shock.

We re-jetted the carburetor with a ProCycle jet kit, making the engine more responsive. We also replaced the stock muffler with a DG RST, improving both the breathing and exhaust note.

We added a Seat Concepts seat (which ProCycle offers completely pre-assembled with a new seat pan), and installed a ProCycle tall rider kit. The kit produces a total 5” rise for the handlebar, and also pivots at 2 points, allowing for much better adjustability to find your ideal riding position.

Rounding out the upgrades, we added a 2.7gal Clarke gas tank, Maier body plastics (available in many colors including Olive Green, Desert Sand, and Yellow), a Ricochet skid plate, a ProCycle TW200 dash, a ProCycle tail tidy kit, Acerbis hand guards, a JNS Engineering head light, a JNS light bar, Mojave auxiliary lights, and much more! Watch the video for the full run-down.
